I have been volunteering at Future Intentions since January 2018 as a Social Media Assistant. My role involves creating posts for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn – this will often include designing graphics for the posts. I also put together the email newsletter and help maintain the Future Intentions website. I started volunteering because I had a day off every week from my current job, and I wanted to fill up this day with something that felt rewarding but also helped improve my skills, as I do the same tasks as part of my job. I feel that doing this role has increased my confidence with working alongside clients, to understand their thought process and ideas, and how best to translate those into the work that I do as a Social Media Assistant.
