Future Intentions Yorkshire is a successful women's project, a distinct service in the women's support services space.
Our History
Our journey began in 2016 with one woman’s dream — to support other women to live authentic, fulfilling lives. With just over £1,000 from the government’s Enterprise Allowance Scheme, Future Intentions was established as a sole trader business.
In 2021, another leap of faith led to the creation of Future Intentions Yorkshire, founded alongside two inspiring women entrepreneurs and guided by an all-women Board of Directors. Today, we are a small voluntary sector organisation with a strong social mission — led by women, for women — and supported by a dedicated and highly talented team of volunteers.
WHO WE ARE
We do not define ourselves as just a “women’s group”. We are a women’s movement — made up of inspiring, courageous women who choose to live with intention. These choices are not made lightly or without challenge. The women within our community are everyday warriors, navigating real life with strength, honesty, and purpose.

Future Intentions Yorkshire offers tailored, holistic support for women across areas of Ryedale and York. Our accessible services include free, funded, and affordable opportunities that build confidence, wellbeing, employability, and community connection.
Our mission, vision, and values underpin a clear message to women: “You can choose who you want to be — living an authentic, purposeful life, enjoying both work and personal life alongside your tribe,” says Liz, Founder. We support women to move beyond conditioned thinking, people-pleasing behaviours, and self-limiting beliefs, so they can move forward with clarity and confidence.

We exist to reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, and support women’s economic independence. Our purpose is to help women build lives and livelihoods that feel authentic, sustainable, and meaningful.
OUR IMPACT
Our impact is seen in increased confidence, reduced isolation, improved wellbeing, and clearer pathways towards work or enterprise. We measure success not just in outcomes, but in how women feel — heard, supported, and hopeful.
WHAT WE DO
We work with women from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing isolation, low confidence, caring responsibilities, health challenges, or barriers to work. We meet women where they are and adapt our support to their needs.
OUR APPROACH
We take a trauma-aware, strengths-based, and community-led approach. This means focusing on what women can do, honouring lived experience, and supporting progress in ways that feel manageable and empowering.
LOOKING AHEAD
We are committed to growing our reach, strengthening our programmes, and developing sustainable income to ensure long-term impact. Our focus remains on listening to women and responding to what they need most.
Future Intentions Yorkshire is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, established in 2021 and limited by guarantee. We are rooted in our community and trusted because we genuinely understand the challenges women face — and we truly do. With over 40 years of combined lived experience, our work is shaped by real insight, empathy, and authenticity.
We have walked alongside these experiences ourselves, and our guiding belief, “It’s OK not to be OK,” sits at the heart of everything we do. Our support is recognised for being as unique and diverse as the women we serve, shaped by the stories they share with us — and with each other.
